ULLOVU – Ullovu Secondary School continues to make its mark on the global stage, thanks to the achievements of its alumni. Sibongile Mtolo, a 2024 matriculant now studying Medicine abroad, has shared an inspiring message with this year’s Grade 12 learners, urging them to aim high and seize international opportunities.

In a video message to the Class of 2025, Sibongile reflects on her journey from Ullovu’s classrooms to a medical faculty overseas. She describes how her determination and careful preparation opened doors to study abroad, encouraging others not to let fear or lack of exposure hold them back.

“Applying to universities outside South Africa might feel intimidating at first,” she explains in the video, “but there are scholarships and support systems if you are willing to research, work hard and take the leap. I was once in your position — wondering if it was even possible. Now I know it is.”

Her story serves as both inspiration and practical guidance. Sibongile highlights how she started researching opportunities early, reached out for advice, and prepared thoroughly for application requirements. She urges current Grade 12 learners to explore all available options, from local universities to international programmes, and not to underestimate their own potential.

While the full video (embedded below) captures her journey in her own words, Sibongile’s key message is clear: learners from schools like Ullovu can and do succeed globally. She believes the Class of 2025 has what it takes to follow similar paths.

Her achievements add to Ullovu Secondary’s growing reputation for producing learners who excel beyond school. For many of her former teachers and classmates, Sibongile is proof that ambition, effort and courage can lead to life-changing opportunities.
