ULLOVU – On 30 September 2025, Ullovu Entrepreneurs proudly welcomed Dris Naidoo and Matthew from the Teach A Man To Fish organization. Their visit was part of a progress check on the school’s thriving business, which has now been running successfully for three years.

Ullovu Entrepreneurs have built an impressive track record since their journey began. In 2023, the learners won the overall prize for Best Business Plan and Best Financial Report in the KwaZulu-Natal Bronze Level competition, earning a cash prize. Their success continued in 2024 when they advanced to the Silver Level and again took home the Best Financial Report award.
This year, their determination has taken them even further as they are now competing at both National and Global levels. The team representing the school includes:
Mabuto Unako
Mabuto Okhoyo
Owami Vezi
Dlamini Khethelo
Gasela Nosihle
Khumalo Pretty
Doncabe Amahle
During the visit, the learners were interviewed by the Teach A Man To Fish team. They spoke with confidence and represented Ullovu Entrepreneurs with excellence, showcasing not only their knowledge but also their passion for entrepreneurship.

For Finance Manager Khethelo Dlamini, the experience has been transformative. “Being part of Ullovu Entrepreneurs has been an exciting journey. Selling popsicles, popcorn and ice cream may look simple from outside, but it has taught me valuable lessons about discipline, teamwork, customer care and responsibility. Working together with my peers to grow our small business has shown me how determination and cooperation can turn ideas into real success,” he said. Dlamini added that managing the finances gave him practical skills in budgeting, planning, and accountability — lessons that he believes will shape his future.
Head Girl and Business Secretary Owami Vezi described the project as both purposeful and empowering. “As Head Girl and business secretary, I was inspired to be part of this phenomenal initiative where passion is transformed into purpose and profit. This experience has not only strengthened my academic growth but also sharpened my leadership, organisational and entrepreneurial skills,” she explained. Vezi further noted that the business has taught her that “success is not handed to us, it is earned through discipline, accountability and courage to take risks.” She shared her vision of one day becoming a Chartered Accountant, inspired by the confidence and resilience the project has instilled in her.

Principal Mrs. Gcabashe emphasised the importance of the project, noting that entrepreneurship at Ullovu has become a powerful platform for learners to practice financial responsibility, teamwork, and innovation. She said the school is proud to see learners competing at international levels and believes the initiative will inspire future generations.
The visit marked another milestone in Ullovu Entrepreneurs’ inspiring journey, as they continue to raise the school’s flag high and prove that with hard work, teamwork, and guidance, young people can truly change their future.
